Jerray Vassell serves as the Assistant Ombudsman for Information Rights, where she leads investigations and appeals under the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act, promoting transparency, accountability, and privacy across public and private sectors.  

She joined the Office of the Ombudsman in 2022 as a Data Protection Analyst and later served as an Analyst for Information Rights before assuming her current role.  Her career across the Civil Service included roles within the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture & Heritage, the Public Lands Commission, and the Department of Health Regulatory Services.  

Jerray holds a Master of Public Administration from Walden University and a Bachelor of Social Science from the University College of the Cayman Islands. She also holds the Practitioner Certificates in Freedom of Information (PC.foi) and Data Protection (PC.dp) from PDP Training (UK). She is currently preparing to sit the IAPP Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) exam and is pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law in the UK, further strengthening her legal and regulatory acumen.   

She is certified in advanced investigative techniques, including the PEACE interview model, and brings strong leadership, analytical thinking, and a passion for empowering others.
